Terms of service.
Last updated 30 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Backticks. By using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Backticks.
The service
Backticks lets you write code, run it and keep notes beside it. It is free while in beta. We may add, change or remove features, and we may introduce paid plans later. We will tell you before anything you use today starts to cost money.
Your account
You sign in with your Google account and are responsible for what happens under it. You must be at least 13 years old to use Backticks.
Your content
The code and notes you create are yours. You give us permission only to store, process and display them so the app can work for you, for example saving your files and sending code you run to be executed. We don't claim ownership of your work and don't use it for anything else.
Fair use
Please don't use Backticks to:
- run code that attacks, scans or overloads other systems, or mines cryptocurrency;
- store or share anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights;
- get around usage limits, or try to access other people's accounts or data;
- disrupt the service for others.
We may limit or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Availability and backups
We work to keep Backticks running and your work safe, but the service is provided "as is", without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Backticks is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service.
Ending your use
You can stop using Backticks at any time and ask us to delete your account. Our privacy policy explains how.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Backticks after a change, the new terms apply.
